The Cubs had the incredible foresight to draft Josh Hamilton in the 2006 Rule 5 draft and then had the incredible stupidity to trade him for cash before testing riding him in Spring Training.
He proceeded to hit 400 for the Reds in Spring Training. And as of today is hitting .306- 8 HRS- .671 Slugging Percentage .398 On base percentage.
He also plays gold glove level defensive with an amazing arm and speed.
Honestly- I think this kid may be the best NL player this year and as long as he can stay away from the Crack Houses should be on his way to a Hall of Fame career.
Plus the Cubs miss out on the great backstory. Future Hall of Fame prospect whom was both the top OF prospect and a top Pitching prospect with a 99 MPH fastball gets injured in the minors and on the first night he ever drinks- also gets his first of 26 tatoos and starts a 5 year cocaine habit which leads to the longest MLB suspension ever for drug usage.
