That's true, the queer types and the godless New Agers are running around there like prairie dogs.

Go to Cheeba Hut. Tasty sandwiches named after weed, what more could you ask for? Hemp seed cream cheese? Yes, they've got that too.

It is a semi-progressive small college town, directly adjacent to the vast metropolis of Phoenix and the vast suburb of Mesa. It is home to Arizona State University and its many graduate schools.
Mill Ave is the main drag. There are a few interesting shops and restaraunts in the area along Mill Ave between University and the River. A few, mind you not tons. There are a couple of decent record stores in the area: Stinkweeds and another one I can't remeber (restless?) There is also a branch of a local chain called Zia's which has lots of used crap. I used to take my kids to the water park that is along the riverbank at the end of Mill.
House of Tricks is a good restraunt. There is decent cheap mexican food about. There is a good Israeli/Middle Eastern restaraunt a little ways west on University.
Umm, it is hot as hell this time of year. If you are staying in a hotel with a pool, bring your bathing suit. Be prepared for lots of stupid drunk kids on weekend nights along Mill Ave. It is a real cruiser/hangout type of strip. Find the free giveaway rag (the realtimes??) and look for bands playing.

Well I blame the "politically correct" Catholic politicians that allowed the Indians to stay. Ship'em back to Calcutta is what I say.

I'm going to Arizona State University to participate in a workshop on physics education. I'm going to be in town Oct 11th through Oct 14th. So, are there any EA locals out there that can suggest some late-night happenings? I like food... a lot. I'm willing to cab it to nearby metro areas.
