They were a band. They were a good band, they wrote unusual and interesting songs, put on a good live show and they were fairly influential on the indie rock scene in their time.

But WTF is with all this Slint-obsessed nonsense? I don't get it.

I'm one of the few people here that want to talk about Slint. I suggest you don't start any more Slint threads though, I think we've met the quota on that. Obviously that was just a suggestion though.

My view on what you're saying? Slint just aren't really that cool to like any more, even though the music hasn't changed it's just not going to score you any scene points these days. Start a thread about Mission of Burma or This Heat, I think they're cool to like...not 100% sure though.

I have no problem talking about Slint. I like their music. I'm talking about the word "Slint" being used as some sort of non-sequitur or in-joke that I don't get.

i was cornered at a party in high school by a psycho slint-cultist who literally asked me to promise to go out and buy spiderland the next day so that it could "change my life".

later the other half of my duo bought a used distortion pedal that had a slint sticker over the word distortion. it was the slint pedal.

then one of the technicians from technician said one thing we played reminded him of tweez, which i hadn't heard.

later someone copied me "good morning captain" and i like the prepared-sounding guitars, but the spoken word was so lame. "i miss you. i miss you" SMACK!

that's the story of my tenuous relationship with slint, thus far.
