Which five bands (who are active today) would you sign?
Your choices can be bands that are already signed. Just pick a fantasy roster.

1. Form of Rocket (yeah, you heard me)
2. Melt Banana
3. GoGoGo Airheart
4. the coolest punk band currently based out of Paris, France (no idea who they are, but it's fantasy, so i'll find them, thanks)
and maybe this is cheating, because it's not fully confirmed that they're active today, as required, but...
5. Slint

Desaparecidos
Are you serious? There's, say, Fugazi, and then there's, say, Propagandhi, and then there's, say, At the Drive-In, and there's this band from Edmonton whose name escapes me and then there's Desaparecidos.
I do not get the Bright Eyes thing either. The Shins doing Tom Waits covers.
