I have an Oppo DVD player that supports damn near every format in existence, including DVD-A and SACD. But as BadComrade points out, 99% of the multichannel music discs out there are mixed to show off the format, not to make the end product better. Completely squandered potential.

Yup. The vhs vs. beta type showdown ruined a great format. I bought my SACD player to mainly play cd's, but all of the SACD's I have sound better (2 ch) than the regular cd's. The exception is the Charlie Brown Christmas Soundtrack SACD, which sounds exactly like the standard issue cd.

Multi channel formats are for movies and plays. 5.1 audio is the Quad of the 90's.

What is this SACD, is it similar to the SAP on my television? I say, who wouldn't want the English parts in Spanish and vice versa?
