I have witnessed the infomercial mecca...

the so gay their straight duo of Air Supply taking us on a decade by decade stroll through memory lane of a time when the airwaves were ruled by the sweet sweet soothing sounds of what some jealously snarky hipsters would later deem "Yacht Rock."

Hell...the band that supply the air even did an acoustic version of "Even the Nights Are Better" for the casually well-heeled guests of their oceanside abode.

Simply heavenly, so magical... and then, even better, we got an extended montage of videos and promo clips from the likes of Christopher Cross, the Babies, Micheal McDonald and a whole host of others.

One of Air Supply's guests stated, "this isn't just a collection of songs, it's a collection of emotions." And isn't that what we were all saying about Rites of Spring all those years ago?

The only thing that could've made this infomercial better is if I'd been watching it hungover at the dentists office.

Seriously, I'm moving back in with my parents so I can order this collection with my mom's credit card.

Has anybody else witnessed this? Please tell me it wasn't just a dream.

I've sat and watched that in a sort of Lite-Rock daze. Summer breeze makin' me feel fine and all that. So mellow.

Shannon is gone. I hope she's drifting out to sea.

"on baker street" or some shit.

the only not crap infomercial is the one where the guy breaks the sword and hurts himself.

My wife and I lovingly refer to them as "Graham Russell and Russell Graham".

Anyway, did anybody else notice the big fat fucking pitcher of lemonade on the table?

Lemonade for all!

Anyway, we've moved on to Malt Shop Memories.

Anyone ever seen the "Tormented" episode of MST3K? Every time you see the lighthouse or a shot of the beach, Joel and the bots start singing snippets of soft rock songs... "Sessions Presents!..."

Thats what all those soft rock compilations remind me of.

Malt Shop Memories looked pretty sweet. I am a fan of doo-wop and most pop music made before 1969, so that would explain it. I wouldn't buy it though. Well, maybe if "Angel Baby" is on it.
