hasn't this already happened? I mean they had two nights booked here in NYC then cancelled one show honoring the tickets from the canceled show at the first night. Was this due to poor sales? All I know was webster hall wasn't packed.

When they first played nyc a while back it was STUPID crowded.

This Slint is special to a lot of people... but I cannot help but think that the mystery sweetened it for some. As there are a lot of people talking shit on the live shows and really not being all that impressed since the reunion.

I wish them well... they are a great band. Still capable? Probably.

I loved seeing them during their reunion tour. I'm not really fond of bands reuniting, though. It's hard to pull off. Even the Pixies got old after the first reunion tour.

So, all that mystery and magic feels like it's dissolving. It's no longer special because Slint is back, doing basically the same thing. But music has progressed beyond Slint, which they undeniably had an influence on. I think that's why it's not so special anymore.

Bingo!

My reaction to that song was more or less "This sounds like a new Slint song, alright."

For me, the beauty of Slint is the unit...the simplicity...the simple sound.

In that old review, Steve compares them to Crazy Horse. This makes a lot of sense to me for some reason...despite the fact that they're not much like Neil and the Horse in the least.

Music may have progressed beyond Slint, but...something so powerful and gut-wrenching...well, lets just say I just don't care that much about Mogwai or Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Not that they're bad...they're good...but Slint is just so special to me. Can't really describe why.

And Mat, before the summer is over...you, me, Dave and whoever should plan to go out to dinner or something. I have to go back to Madison for a year...it's kind of a fun bubble, but fuck...it will never feel like home.

Also...fucking Pixies. I agree with Steve...Breeders good, Pixies mostly bad...(I still have a soft spot for Surfer Rosa, but not even most of Doolittle does anything for me).
