What is the weirdest place you've seen a swastika? They used to be used quite often as ornamenture on the outside of buildings, in woodwork detail in rooms, etc., prior to WWII of course.

I'm not talking about it's use in Hinduism or Buddhism, or it's use by Neo-Nazis, I'm really talking about walking around the city or town you live in, or going to a restaurant or public building, and suddenly realizing you are seeing a swastika, and realizing it is an artifact of a different era.

I've seen them in at least two places in Chicago. One was as decoration on the overhang near the top of a roof on a building down the street from Schuba's in Chicago. The other was a room in a German-American restaurant on Sheffield in Chicago (now torn down, can't remember the name), which had it in woodwork detail in one of it's rooms.

I've also seen it in petroglyphs in New Mexico. I think at a site near Albuquerque.

The floor tiles at the Medinah Temple used to be covered in them. First noticed them when I was in 4th grade going to see the Shrine Circus. There are a bunch on the Crains building on Michigan and Wacker. Just high enough that you forget about them until you happen to look up.

There are 2 on the facade of the building right across the street from Johnnie's on Lincoln Ave. We now refer to that place as Swaztikani's

At the top of a police baton. My surprised look was awarded with a "You got a fucking problem?" comment by the policeman carring it. I was about 12 at the time so I decided not to have problems with it.

They can be found on the first floor lintel cornice at the building next to the Hotel 71 on upper east Wacker drive.

There are fasces on the entry facades at Chicago City Hall.

Sometimes the fasces are creepier then seeing swastikas.

In a hostel in Berlin. The parquet floor of my room was divided into a grid of swastikas about the size of album sleeves. Not just the edge but the entire floor. Weird/not weird?
