I don't know how to change the poll. Umm, but yeah I guess you're right, but the "hes not going to win" option can be the crap option.
If you don't know Ron Paul (as I'm sure people here might not), heres where you can start.

Hes basically a libertarian (strong on economic and social freedoms), and hes running for the 2008 Republican nomination. He stands out as the only Republican against the war, against the patriot act, against fiat currency, and for actual small government. He ran for Pres. in '88 under the Libertarian ticket.
America was founded by men who understood that the threat of domestic tyranny is as great as any threat from abroad. If we want to be worthy of their legacy, we must resist the rush toward ever-increasing state control of our society. Otherwise, our own government will become a greater threat to our freedoms than any foreign terrorist.

NOT CRAP
1-2 for wanting to eliminate pretty much every federal program that exists. A fairly impractical idea.

I appreciate a few things about him:
He speaks his mind
He has called bullshit on the Republican party, who no longer act like the GOP
He's not affraid of being called a kook
That said, he is against nearly everything I hold dear.
I think it's the time for more and more responsible government, not less. What I've seen of less depresses me.
The WPA saved this country after the Depression. Also, let's not forget, it allowed us to mobilize from being the 18th to the 1st largest army in only 2 years, when it was needed, right before WWII. Yes, Holland had a bigger army than us in 1938. The "can do" spirit we always brag about came from people being needed and made to feel valuable, after a period of bleakness. We could use something like the WPA right now, to lift the national malaise.
He is against the so-called "death tax," which exists for many reasons.
First, people who make millions do not make them in a vacuum. They use OUR roads, OUR airwaves, and people trained in OUR schools, more than your average businessperson does. So, give back, jerks.
Second, people are allowed to deed millions of dollars with no tax consequences already, so at a certain level, to prevent hoarding and the emergence of an ad hoc monarchy (sound timely?), money is put back in the system via an estate tax.
It should be.
Government is not the problem, how it is currently run is the problem. I'm not looking for a leader who wants people to have full free reign - that's how we got into the mess we're in. Banks and Health Insurance companies have been allowed to screw you at will.
I'm looking for a leader who can return government to something that actually helps people. Leadership involves encouraging people with money to want to help. Lately the moneyed have been acting like spoiled children and they get in a tizzy every time someone implies that maybe they aren't god's chosen people. The shear amount of entitlement being displayed in many Western countries these days is disgusting.
Paul will not prevent us from experiencing the fate of Rome. Rather, his selfish, non-community oriented politics will accellerate the process.
I respect his honesty, but would never, ever want to live in the US he desires.
Crap WF:2 for his integrity.

A giant douche in a field of turd sandwiches, to reference a couple of other famous Libertarians.
