I used to work at a restaurant in Columbus, OH, that served this with a brownie underneath everything in the ramekin. That was probably my favorite all-time dessert.
Crème brûlée in general is probably my all-time favorite dessert.

Crème brûlée is one of the only desserts I actually crave (I have little in the way of a sweet tooth). Key Lime Pie and tiramisu are the other standouts.
So NOT CRAP, and I think I'll treat myself to some delicious fat with caramelized sugar this week. Mmm...

'The tragedy of my Mother's kitchen aspirations is most perfectly crystallised in the Crème brûlée blowtorch, sitting unused in a cupboard.
I may start using it as an unwieldy lighter.
