Ok, the Chicago chapter seems to be maybe taking off... time now for the NYC D&D club to get underway. For those folks in the city or surrounding areas itching to maybe be a part of a 1st edition old-school AD&D campaign post here...
I'm a D&D geek since way back when family used to play in the early 80's. I was just a wee lad when I would sit and watch my Mom, step-dad, aunts and uncles play for hours on Friday or Saturday nights. It was mesmerizing and I loved every minute of it... Yet I was a little too young to actually play.
They were not geeks per-se and my Aunt Donna, whom was working for the local church at the time was our Dungeon Master... I know, weird. They somehow found about this weird little game through the local kids and figured it would be fun to try... My family was pretty poor and this was a cheap source of fun... I was hooked.
I started playing with my friends in 3rd grade or so... So I've got mostly pre 1985 D&D experience but also played 2nd edition for a while in Junior High. Later I sold off all of my D&D post 1983 stuff and only kept my family's original Basic set and Hardcover books along with all of their character sheets, notes and maps... I then started to collect all of the original stuff (pre 1983) as a hobby about 15 years ago...
I have a stupid collection and have almost everything except a few of the most rare of rare collectors items... certainly I have enough modules to keep our small campaign going for a while...
Beer, Pizza, Painted miniatures, Polyhedra, and some fantastical underworld adventuring!
NYC GEEKS UNITE!!

2We should have the clubs meet at a halfway point, like Pittsburgh, and just unload on each other.

The Pittsburgh PvP battleground (sorry to bring WoW into this. As well as other acronyms). We could have once city play good characters, the other evil. And PA members could all play True Neutral Druids.

Yeah my cousins sorta played a little... but My Aunt was super cool... for my 13th birthday, before she moved away to Arizona I had begged her to DM one last adventure with my now junior-high school buddies... casue I would alway rave about how awesome my childhood adventures were with the family...
She and I picked out a module at the local Waldenbooks:

Naturally, Chicago would be the good guys.
