Can you do, like, negative dollars for the album, cause you would have to pay me to listen to it.

:)

I'm not a huge Radiohead fan...but they've released some masterful shit and evolved like few bands ever do (there's like three distinct Radiohead stages...four stages if you count the Pablo Honey period when they were too busy licking my balls to write anything but shitty "grunge" songs).

It seems like it's pretty cool to hate on Radiohead at this juncture in time. I haven't listened to them in like three years, but there may very well come a time in my life when I get into this band again. It's pretty hard to deny a lot of those records...it's just not a sound I'm terribly fond of.

Still...they are corporate rockers bitching about the system that they agreed to take part in...this annoys me (to say the least). I guess they're self-releasing this one...but I wouldn't be surprised if it was like a Pearl Jam thing...that is to say..."Yeah, we're not on Epic Records anymore...we're going with a subsidiary of Sony?/Epic?...so we're punk or something now! Really!"

I'd like to see Radiohead strip their sound down to a drier T&G type sound...that'd be an interesting place for them to go after all the increasingly elaborate-ass albums they've released...

...where's the Slint button when you need it?

I think there's too much "self release" over Radiohead already.

Not that i necessarily care one way or the other about Radiohead, but i don't get the attitude of "they chose to play the game, so now that they're trying to break away from it, i'm not impressed." Yes, if it weren't for the corporate system they were a part of, they probably would never have gotten so huge that they could afford to self-distribute, but shouldn't they still get some props for breaking away? I mean, hell, the audience cheers when Darth Vader throws the Emperor down the reactor shaft; they don't scoff and say, "yeah, ok, too little, too late, Darthy."

I'm still waiting for the internet to make a bonafide self-released star out of someone without the help of a major or even large indie distro system. (OK, Crap Your Hands Say Yeah, but man, they were a flash in the pan, weren't they?)
