Capitalism.

Adam Smith

The government of an exclusive company of merchants is, perhaps, the worst of all governments for any country whatsoever

John Maynard Keynes

[Capitalism] is not a success. It is not intelligent, it is not beautiful, it is not just, it is not virtuous--and it doesn't deliver the goods. In short, we dislike it, and we are beginning to despise it. But when we wonder what to put in its place, we are extremely perplexed

and

Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone.

Honore de Balzac

Behind every great fortune, there lies a crime.

Sharon Begley

A single decision by the chairman of Royal Dutch/Shell has a greater impact on the health of the planet than all the coffee-ground-composting, organic-cotton-wearing ecofreaks gathering in Washington D.C., for Earth Day festivities this weekend.

Thomas Friedman

"The hidden hand of the market will never work without a hidden fist - McDonald's cannot flourish without McDonnell Douglas, the builder of the F-15. And the hidden fist that keeps the world safe for Silicon Valley's technologies is called the United States Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps."

Ambrose Bierce

CORPORATION, n. An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility.

G. K. Chesterton

The rich are the scum of the earth in every country.

Noam Chomsky

Why should workers agree to be slaves in a basically authoritarian structure? They should have control over it themselves. Why shouldnít communities have a dominant voice in running the institutions that affect their lives?

Martin Luther King Jr.

True compassion is more than flinging a coin at a beggar; it comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring.

Jesus Christ

It would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

And so on.

i'd be interested in discussing alternatives. The last thing we need is another so-called 'socialist' government turning into a dictatorship.

Capitalists don't care what government it is or how democracy/tyranny is organized; they rule in another way, you know
