Either real or imaginary.

I'm sure most of you, being hopeless geeks like me, have considered the phenomenon that is the covers band, and discussed with friends which covers band you'd be in, what it'd be called, etc. Or perhaps you have seen awesome examples of ridiculous cover band names or concepts on flyers or even the stage.

Share your stories. What cover band would you be in? What would it be called? How would you play around with the identity of the original band? Have you seen good examples of ludicrous cover bands in action?

one of the most inspirational concepts I ever saw was on a poster in a pub in Manchester:

"The north-west's number one Asian Elvis impersonator: PATELVIS!!!"

So good.

Me and Dindon and a friend once came up with the amazing idea of a Metallica covers band called "Melodica" - written in the Metallica logo style, of course. The band would exclusively play Metallica covers performed on melodica, and moreover would only use the index and little fingers to play the instrument so as to form the sign of the devil whtn blowing those power chords out hard. I would definitely go and see this band.

I quite like the idea of a Bon Jovi covers band performing their best soft rock hits with a plummy received pronounciation British accent. The name of this band would be "By Jove-y!"

TELL ME YOUR BEST COVERS BAND IDEAS OR THE STUPIDEST COVERS BAND YOU EVER SAW

I'm bored.

Only Sebastian J will understand this but

A band called "Fugazza". Cheesy tropical versions of Fugazi songs.
(the 'fugazza' is a kind of pizza)

Check out Kerble's post on page 2 - it's one of his best.

= Justin

Edit - Looking back over it, I realize that most of the stuff he did was great. "Impersonation of Ulysses" - SALUT.

The Gayrilla Biscuits are where it's at, if you're familiar with Youth of Today/Minor Threat/Gorilla Biscuits songs.

This is kind of silly, but I've always wanted there to be
a Beatles/Eagles tribute band. They could be called
The Beagles. I would want nothing to do with this band.

Gayer (gay Slayer cover) with albums such as Mouth Of Kevin and God Hates Us Fags. Their logo is a pentagram made of 5 interlaced dicks.
