Have you guys heard about how Freud was a complete charlatan? Apparently this guy Frederick Crews has written a handful of books that just completely demolish any empirical credibility that the old coke-snortin', rip-roarin', cigar-chompin' mountebank once might have had.

Freud routinely falsified information on medical reports. Most of his actual patients did not recover from their maladies, although he would promote an image of himself as being a brave and effective physician. He seriously believed that occult magick was just as important as psycho-analysis, and was only prevented from promoting it by a wary follower. His crackpot theories, like the one holding that Moses was actually an Egyptian, were completely bogus and fabricated.

So, apparently, the most influential intellectual of the twentieth century was nothing more than a roadside quack. His movement was a massive fraud perpetrated on a gullible and ignorant public. Isn't that interesting?
