well I just got back from lawrence, that place is pretty unique in it's own way. I've never been to a place like lawrence. people are a bit differen't than the upper midwest. the thing I noticed most is people don't mingle with others much, they stick to their group of friends, the few nights I was there I managed to break some fellow kansas folk out of their shells, I played some darts, two player centipede (which was awesome by the way) with some locals. I checked out a bunch of bars, including jackpot, bottle neck, and harbor lights. one bar had 30oz beers for $1.75, can't go wrong there. there is a good local beer called Boulevard. the wheat and pale ale were both fine beers. It went fast, and I wish I could've stayed longer, it was hard to really get a feel for it, but I have to say it was a really fun time down there, lots going on downtown, and a thriving music scene. also, most restraunts on mass street only had one burger on their menu. there is however alot of hot chicks walking around in that city. anyone been down there? what did you think of it? oh, yeah the drive through Iowa was the longest part of the trip. It's always raining when I'm in Iowa.

Had a great time in Lawrence while on a xcountry trip. Kept walking around hoping to run into the guys from The Embarrassment. Cute little college town.

Had to miss the Embos reunion though due to work shit. Still pissed off about that... Weren't the Mortal Micronautz from Lawrence too?

I grew up in Kansas City and used to go to Lawrence all the time. I went to my first punk shows at the Outhouse. I've actually done a couple of threads in the Crap/Not Crap forum about the Outhouse- which ended up becoming a conversation on Lawrence- and the Mortal Micronotz. Not that I'm gonna link or get all kerbly about it.

Love and miss Lawrence. I have a lot of memories attached to the place.
You call me a hater like that's a bad thing

i grew up in lawrence, america. my romantic view of the town grows a little more with every passing year. i'm sure people that liked where they grew up can relate. i'm not sure that i would ever move back, but i do think that it's a great place to spend a weekend and even live.

items to consume in a weekend: yello sub, rudy's pizza, free state beer, vermont street bbq, the replay lounge back patio, the bottleneck, pappa kenos, joe's donuts

i'm told that a real estate developer turned the outhouse into a stripper joint. i guess it's forced some of the rocker kids to hang out downtown and that has caused the real estate developer to claim that the town is now "unsafe". one closes down a rock club to open a stripper joint and now the town is suddenly all sodom and gomorrah. there's a joke in there somewhere. faiz!?
