Long time reader, first time poster.

The shutdown of OiNK has me thinking - would I pay for a legal Oink style service? Sort of a monthly subscription service with downloads in mp3 and flac formats.

My answer is yes, absolutely. I'm wondering if others feel the same way.

Best,

- J.

I don't think the suits would go for a set fee for unlimited downloads, but I'd pay if they could guarantee the same quality as the previous oink.

No.

i'd rather keep on with SoulseeX, blogs, etc...

i download a fair amount. dozens of albums a month sometimes as i am curious and always looking for something new. more often than not, maybe 98% of the time, i am disappointed or uninterested in what i hear and it finds the trash. no harm done.

that 2% however is pure gold and i buy(!) proper hard copies of those...

when did people become so disinterested in the artifact?

idiots...

The proposition is a bit unrealistic. You can't offer unlimited downloads for a set monthly price. Everyone would subscribe for a month.

Yes, perhaps. I'm going to change the question slightly to remove this sticky point. Maybe a fair monthly GB limit or something.

But that's not the point. Obviously there are details to be sorted, but assuming everything was as slick and easy as Oink, would you pay for this service?
