hi everybody,

here in portugal i can not find one of those babes, somebody knows where can i buy one on line?

thanks a lot

Rock On!! [/u][/b]

first off: welcome, hope you enjoy your stay.

ebay is your best bet, mig 50, 60, and 100s, can usually be found on there on a day to day basis. the sound of sovteks are unique, and I've also heard of alot of people comparing to the marshall jcm's, but IMHO, far better...

I saw a new one for sale from Russia recently too.

Do these things get pretty loud? Need a new amp, but trying to keep from getting a power amp too.

i think that a guitar tube amp with more than 30/50W is always 'pretty loud'.

I've seen a few Mig 60s in action several years apart. In each case, the size was PERFECT-- enough wattage to be hella loud, but you really have to crank the power section to get there.

In each case, I never saw more than two stompboxes on the floor when there were pedals at all, and half the time one of those pedals ended up being a tuner.

A good friend in a previous band of mine used a MiG 100 and Sovtek 4X12

He played a 1970's SG with single coils and sometimes a Mosrite hollow-body. I thought it always sounded pretty darned good. Smoother break-up than you'd expect but not as generic sounding as a JCM Marshall.

The only problem I can recall is the power switch stopped working so to turn off we had to unplug the amp after putting in standby

There are some cheapy components in those amps, like plastic switches and input jacks. You could replace them with switchcraft stuff.

they are pretty loud amps, I play a 60 through, a 2x12 at the moment. it's plenty loud, and it breaks up fast.
