Five-Eight Reunion Show, Wed Nov. 14th

Some of you have commented that you saw and/or enjoyed my old band Five-Eight some years ago.

The band has never broken up, but they went on with a different drummer after I left the band in 1999. Lately, shows have been sparse to nonexistent since the drummer who replaced me moved to California.

Wednesday, the "original" lineup (this is a debatable point, though not germane to this discussion) will reunite for the 20th anniversary of the Flagpole Magazine here in Athens.

Mantione, Dan, Patrick (that's me) and Sean (possibly) at the 40 Watt here in Athens, Ga on Wednesday.

It's been a real joy playing with Mike and Dan again. One doesn't play 200 or so shows a year for six years with three friends and not develop a kind of psychic connection. We've had a couple of practices and they have been revelatory, enjoyable, lovely. I hope that Sean can make it for the show, too.

There may be some future shows. I mean, why not? We're really enjoying playing together, and the music is still really good.

Hey, I think I did sound for Five-Eight in New Orleans at a bar called Muddy Waters on Maple street a long time ago. Like in 1990 or 1991 maybe. I remember you guys were from out of town, I asked the other PA guy what the deal with your name was and he made a joke about your heights. Sorry.

I can't remember if I liked you all or not. I was probably fucked up. I apologize if the mix was shit that night.

Have a good gig.
