That is proof of the banality of evil, but the fact that all of us are stunned into wordlessness by such events proves that there are opposing forces within us also. All I'm saying is: don't use a story like that to only reinforce your pessimism about man.

I wasn't trying to reinforce my pessimism about humanity. And your point about all of us being shocked is good.

It's just that it's...horrible, in such a cheaply suburban, common way, which makes it even worse.

The waste of it all is incomprehensible, tragic. I can't even understand it. I can't make sense of a thirteen-year-old girl pulling an Ian Curtis because a boy didn't like her.
Life...life...I know it's got its ups and downs.

The action, shamelessly teasing an insercue teenager (or anyone who is emotionally weak) is common.

The result is tragic.

Sadly, children kill themselves, or attempt to, fairly often.

What I can't make sense of is someone's PARENTS actively helping there OWN CHILD to humiliate another child. As a parent of a now 27 year old, it is beyond my comprehension that anyone who claims to be a parent would not only let their child do such a thing, but also help them. We are there to set an example and lead them, and be there for them when they fall. Not to help them do something that is morally abhorrent.
