Hello,

I am goin´to buy a pair of active monitors to use at home.
I have a presonus firebox and more or less I am decided to go with the rockits rp, I listen to the rp5 and really like them over others.

I have a room of 14 meters2, Is not aconditinated and I can´t acondiotionated it.

What do you think it would be the best model the 5" model or the 6" one?

I am afraid of choosing the 6" and have too many volume or at the contrary choose the 5" and this will very litlle, the difference of prices in europe is about 130$ so I don´t mind buying one or anothers.

Can you help me please?

Also, what kind on cables would you use to connect the monitors with the audio card?

If the larger models are within your budget, you should strongly consider them.

I am not familiar with Rockits, but I know the Genelec line fairly well.

Let's say that it's a comparison of 8030A (5" 2-way, active) and the 8040A (6.5" 2-way, active).

There are physics reasons why they cannot sound completely identical, basically a 5" cone at 2kHz has slightly different dispersion than a 6.5" cone at 2kHz just like a G on a Bosendorfer 170 baby grand piano sounds slightly different than a G on a Bosendorfer 225 concert grand piano.

That said, these are minor subtleties. The designers do their very best to make them as identical as possible given the technology available, and most decent monitor "families" have a distinct similarity to the sound.

The real difference between a 5" 2-way and a 6.5" 2-way is a little extra output, and the larger model generally plays a little deeper.

As for the fear of "too much volume", level controls are great at reducing volume... The issue is getting a little more when your speaker system has been underspecified!!

You mention the budget is not an issue, go for the bigger models.
