Is it better to use natural burlap (jute or hemp) or synthetic burlap (like polyester or polypropylene?
I know that nearly every porous fabric is appropriate, but maybe there are same differencies, becouse I've heard that shiny fabrics reflect higher frequencies so, maybe, synthetic burlap will do the same.
Thank you.

2i do not know if there is a difference although if there is i doubt it would be much of one. i used to work for a studio designer/builder and he used synthetic.
if you are covering fiberglass to put on your walls make shure that it is fire proof.

I dont think the importance of this can be overstated. Fire resistance, and not price, should be your primary concern.

5spandex lycra is what i always spec'd back when i did that shit, and this was based entirely on my boss' assertion that it is acoustically transparent. we used it for speaker grillcloth and theatre facade walls too.

6the best thing to get if you don't want to experiment or have to think about this stuff too hard is the Guilford FR 701® fabric. It's made to be acoustically transparent and is fire rated for commercial applications.
This is what I use in my studio... mostly so I don't run into trouble with the fire inspectors.
best,
