I have been working at a studio that has a pair of these C12 reissues, but I am a bit reluctant to use them as I haven't heard much about them or their quality. Supposedly, these particular ones have some sort of modification that makes them sound more like the original C12. Does anyone have any info and/or experience with these mics? Any good?

I don't know the mods for this mic. I only know that we had one for a few years, and no one used it, so we traded it for another mic.

I was using one for a while and I don't think it sounded anything like a C12, or at least the C12 I had to A/B with it. Mine was pretty dark sounding, maybe a little dull at times, but in the right situation it did fine.

When AKG introduced the 'tube' they opted for the standard C414 mass produced teflon-ring capsule, which sounds way different to the original brass ring CK12 capsule used in the C12 mic. The CK12 cap was apparently extremely time consuming to make (by hand) and they stopped using them around the turn of the 80's. The last mic to employ it was the silver C414EB. I have two silver 414EB's one with each type of capsule: chalk and cheese.
