Radio 1190, the University of Colorado at Boulder's radio station, is starting a free jazz show tonight called Spirits Rejoice (clever!) at 7pm MST (that's 8 Central) and every Wednesday at that time. You can listen here.

They used to have a really long show on Saturdays called The Creeping Ear that was basically dedicated to the period in which jazz started using Moogs and stuff like that, but this is their first show like this, which is weird since a lot of people who know this shit up and down have come through the place. Anyway, some of you might enjoy it.

Hey, I guess I could have posted this more than a half hour before the show was to start! Probably not!

I love college radio, back in the early 90's I worked for a time at a Dominos in Saline, MI. Every Sunday I'd drive around delivering pizza listening to Arwulf Arwulf on WCBN. Open Letter to Duke followed by Real Black Miracles. First place I heard Sun Ra, Anthony Braxton, Cecil Taylor, all that stuff. I remember hearing Sun Ra's 'It's After The End of the World'(not the song, the LP you can't find anywhere) beginning to end. Good, good times. I am glad such things exist.

Fucker of mothers! Whatever they just played at 9:00 cst just ripped a hole in my brain. I tuned in during something off Frank Lowe's Black Beings, that was great as well. I badly need to broaden my knowledge of free-jazz. So much to do. I remember at so many points in my life saying, "there is no good music left out there". As punishment for uttering this most heinously false of statements, it seems I am trapped in a world where good music contaminates the air like lethal spores of sars. Does sars have spores?

Do you remember that episode of Twighlight zone where the gambler dies and the afterlife is a casino where he cannot lose?
