Steve what's your opinion about Otari 5050 8-track?And also except from ATR Services new 8 track do you know something else more amateur you know for home recording and stuff like that.

I used an Otari MX5050 for years, and I liked it fine. It has pretty much all the features of a professional machine in a very compact format.

There are some long-term reliability mods you can make, and some high-performance parts available from Athan corp, which you should consider with a used machine.

Good machines. Easy to use.

I realy want to buy this machine but i only find it on the eBay.Do you know if its safe to buy something from there??

eBay can be safe, or you can get your money stolen. It all depends on the integrity of the seller, how smart you are as a buyer, and how you pay for the item in question.

A better question is "should YOU buy an Otari tape recorder on eBay?"

I could buy an Otari tape machine on eBay, because if it arrives at my door and doesn't work, I know that I have knowledge and experience at fixing such a machine. If you have no knowledge or experience at fixing such a machine, and there is no one in your part of Greece that can fix such a machine, then buying one on eBay is probably a mistake.

Lately, especially with some more complicated items like analog tape machines, eBay has been getting a bad reputation as a place where it is very easy to buy broken equipment and very hard to buy working equipment.

I think you want a working tape machine. You should really try to find one that you can inspect and see operate in person if you are not familiar with tape machines or don't know how to fix one.

thanks for your advice djimbe but there is no way to find something in greece.and if i find something it will be extremely expensive!!!I guess that i'll have to wait for a new product sometime in the future(very difficult almost science fiction)

maybee not so science fiction i think that maybee new machines have already been built but we just havent searched enough to know about them

yeah bulldrumer thanks,but can you find me one?I mean otari,tascam,fostex,ampex and many others used to make analog multitracks(I just named a few of them) and now all of them make everything fucking digital!!!!!!!!!!!!

we must raise the analog revoloution... ANALOG WILL PREVAIL!!!
