Good dog parks in Brooklyn

So, I will be up in New York for my grandpa's 80th and will have Orson (my puppy) with me. I'm going to be staying in Park Slope and am hoping to take him to a dog park that Sunday morning when I'm there. Do any of you Brooklyn people have recommendations for good parks? I know there is the big park in Park Slope but I didn't know if that would be too much for the wee pupster. Any thoughts?

Awesome! I'm a little hesitant to take the pup anywhere with too many there dogs because he is still pretty little and definitely can't go off leash yet. I am mostly just looking for a good park to take him to for romping. The one you linked to looks good though, and my grandpa is in Brooklyn Heights so that would be totally fine.

That small dog run might be the perfect place to give him his first off-leash test.

Try letting him off the leash (but stay close!) just outside the fence and see how he reacts to the dogs. Good luck! Hope Orson has a good time.

You'll definitely wanna investigate the areas of Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, and East New York.

Might also wanna check out the South Bronx - - all PRIME places for dog-walking.

Just kidding. Don't go to any of those places.

For real, though, Sunset Park in Brooklyn is huge and really nice. It's also officially the highest point of Brooklyn (I think,) so expect great views of the SOL, etc.

R train to 45th street Brooklyn.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that it's, like, three stops from Park Slope on the train so, perfect...
