Which is the better over-orchestrated crooner?

Tough one, but I prefer Walker's brand of flakiness.

I had lunch with Lee Hazlewood in Berlin.

I've written about this here already about 1000 times, and it is completely irrelevant to the poll, but I cannot resist the urge to mention it.

I like Scott Walker myself, though.

No contest, Scott Walker all the way. The arc of his career is so fascinating (teeny-bopper=>MOR interpreter=>art song chanteuse=>scary 20th century classical composer) and his catalog is untouchable as far as breadth and quality.

Lee Hazelwood is okay at what he does, but has anyone heard that 'The Drift'? Holy christ, that album slays!

Lee Hazlewood had a SUPERB sense of humor.

scott walker has a pretty voice, but he's goddamned chopped liver next to lee hazlewood.

and the drift sucks.

interesting guys,,, i'm not sure why they should be pitted against each other .... Lee wins if yr looking for the soulful shit ....Walker wins if you put yr eggs in tha weirdo basket -- for longevity i'm with Lee.... but i'd like to hear a convincing argument of the adverse for sure.
