A few things off the top of my head:
Goat is what I play for people who think the drums on a Nickleback record sound really bitchen. Great sound as well as great playing.
Miles Davis - Nefertiti with Tony Williams is a really cool album with some amazing drumming on it.
I like Dale Crover as a drummer a lot, Lysol is as good a place to start as any with those guys.
Gerry Hemingway with Anthony Braxton's quartet from '85-'93 or so, really cool and different. One of the best drummers I've heard at doing quiet and subtle. Also some of my favorite recordings of all time. If you can find a copy of the Willisau box set check it out. Changed how I think about music that one.

"Interstellar Space" by Coltrane with Rashied Ali. Yup, thats only one drummer on there, no overdubs.
{And a shout-out for the drumming (and drum sound) on Poster Children's "Daisychain Reaction" LP.}
