A guy on another board said that he stopped by Heart of Texas looking for a Dietz and found out they're making them again. He said that 1x15's are going for $475 though because the EV speaker alone is $300.

Is EV making the 15L again or is that price what is costs him to track down used and/or NOS? It was my understanding that the things were long gone, and you could only get recone kits for the 15B.
And yes, I'm assuming this guy does a nice job, and a well put together cab of this type is much nicer than most of the stuff being sold at that price these days.

Not to further confuse the issue, but I heard that the only difference between the 15B and the 15L was the ribbing on the cone. It seems like there is lots of opinions on the matter. There are 15L recone kits available.

I don't believe that Heart of Texas ever stopped making them, only certain configurations. The new ones are covered in either grey peach fuzz or rhino skin.

I was in Heart of Texas yesterday and this is exactly what the guy said, except I think they have started covering them with truck bedliner. They actually had one out and it was gorgeous. The speaker is mounted with socket cap machine screws. They are exceptionally well built and still have EVM-15L's in them (he said they had a stock of new ones left). He told me it was $495, an exceptional deal. If I had money and a way to get it back here I would have pounced.

I assumed with that "build a Dietz" thread they must be out of production. I think a road trip might be in order for me. Can you fit these in a car? All my 15" cabinets are too big to fit through the door and closing the trunk is a joke. My shit is far too big to be as quiet as it is.

The plans for the TL606 from Electrovoice put the dimensions at 19 1/4" wide x 23 3/4" tall x 17" deep. I do not know how much, if at all these vary from the plans. It is my understanding that they are pretty close.
I can send you a copy of these if you want to know more, or try your hand at building one.

I've got a gif from the other thread but its way too advanced for my lego only experience.

A guy up here in WI was selling a bunch of gear on a local music sight including 2 EVM-15's. One was a L and one was a B. $50, but I was to late. He had cabs to, not sure what design/brand or if they are sold or not
These speakers, especially the frame's/baskets are not to hard to find. It looked to me that you can go to several web pages for info on getting these reconed. I remember one sight seemed like it specialized in just that. One sight claimed 200 watt speakers can be reconed as 400 watts rather easily.
The box is basic carpentry for someone with modest credentials. I bet a carpenter/handyman would build one cheap, with todays economy a quick job like that should be inexpensive. I would build one for cost+ $50 for a friend. Anyone in SE WI wouldever want help, send me a PM.
Its cool that Heart of Texas is building these again, I'm sure they will sell like hotcakes.
