by Virginia Woolf. I just started reading this book this morning and am about a quarter of the way through. I have to say, so far the writing is beautiful. Still, I will withhold my vote until I finish. This poll is out of curiosity and I don't think there has been a poll on this book or Virginia Woolf yet.

What say you? Crap or Not Crap?

Haven't read this, but I've loved the Woolf I've read. Gorgeous writing, great sense of human emotion and thought. To The Lighthouse is easily one of my favourite novels.

I haven't read The Waves since college (and need to remedy this), but it struck me then as superior to both Mrs. Dalloway and To the Lighthouse. It remains in my memory one of the most beautiful pieces of literature I have ever read.

Picked this one up on BER's recommendation. Haven't yet delved into it, but so far, having sifted through it just a bit, I can tell that it was very thoughtfully written.

You can't describe waves on a beach in vivid detail if you're just "winging it."
