Great film.

A great film, one of my all-time favorites.

A good piece of trivia from this one: In an attempt to make the soundstage look authentic, Redford had garbage shipped in from the Washington Post's newsroom.

Definitely one of my favourites too. Very well paced, excellent direction and a first class script. The cinematographer was by Gordon Willis, who also shot The Godfather, another personal favourite.

The whole cast is stellar. I like the rhythm between Redford and Hoffman. I also love the fact that they didn't try to portray the duo as righteous crusaders. They aren't fighting for justice, they just want their story. There's no judgement of Nixon's administration. Bernstein and Woodward are portrayed as being just a bit dickish. In particular their attitude towards women is dreadful. They are rude, condescending and boorish towards every female throughout.

Jason Robards won an academy award for his portrayal of Ben Bradlee and I think he deserved it. Every scene with Robards has you watching him ahead of anyone else.

"Follow the money."

Not crap for this line alone.

"I was at a party once, and, uh, Liddy put his hand over a candle, and he kept it there. He kept it right in the flame until his flesh was burned. Somebody said, 'What's the trick?" And Liddy said, "The trick is not minding.'"

Really good film, very good performances from all, even Robert Redford (almost) doesn't play himself.

Jason Robards is fucking excellent though, as ever. Great actor. What a career: this, Once Upon a Time in the West and Quick Change. It's hard to know what to be more impressed by.

Absolutely. Jason Robards was a legend.

I guess I need to see Quick Change.

Great film.

Pakula had a nice run in the early to mid 70s. The Parallax View and Klute were also great films.

Nixon era paranoia produced some great stuff (Chinatown, for instance).
