right so, if i'm a mong then shoot me, and if my searching skills are too lame then also shoot me.

is there any real difference in sound between the 50w silverface bassman and the 100w one? or is it just louder/more powerful?

i only ask as the 100w ones always seem a lot cheaper than the 50w ones. is it just because the 50w are the earlier models or is there some sound difference?

Only minor differances, which are pretty much the same for all amps sporting similar configurations, but with a larger version of the power section. The 100 watter will have slightly more LF, as well as more headroom. The 50 watter will compress a little more, and have a slightly rawer sound.

Other than that, not much differance.

I've got a 50w Bassman 10. Don't know if its the same as the head version or not. Either way, I've pretty much decided that thing sucks. My friend's 100w Bassman head sounds really good and gets to a good loud volume.

The 50 and 70 (especially the 70) watt versions are great for recording, the 100 is better on stage (2X15") and the 135 is a hunk of junk. A friend of mine modded his 50 watt 4X10 bassman combo into a 1X15 and it sounds amazing (especially for Rhodes) he also has the 70 watt with a recording (Preamp) output on the back and it is very nice.

A Bassman without a 15" has no uses to me.
