What do you think of sound guys? Some of my most miserable professional experiences as a musician come from dealing with a bad sound guy. (It should be said I haven't dealt with many A&R types.)

Every now and then my band works with a good one. He's usually young, enthusiastic, not-yet burned out. Then again, young sound guy also has a tendency to be feedback guy.

Like anything else, there are nice guys and there are assholes. My bandmates and I always make it a point to introduce ourselves to the sound guy by name and shake his hand. I have found that a little courtesy goes a long way.

I think many times it is the night job for guitar center and sam ash employees. JOKE.

Never had a problem with a sound person.

I can only remember dealing with one asshole sound guy. We usually introduce ourselves as well - and a lot of times we'd give him like $20 after the show if they did a good job. At places we're we've played a few times, this small gesture has really paid off.

Overall I'd say not crap from my experience.

Always always introduce myself. I mean, you're working with that dude, whoever it is.

My experience = Dreadlocks, big trouble.

Some just have no idea what they are doing and others are really good so I'd say......they're doing the best they can.

Elliot from the Empty Bottle has told me that he lurks on this forum, though he doesn't post.

That being said, I guess you guys had better watch what you say.

I think it depends on the sound guy, hard to generalize.

If you want the best though, Tad Donelly is your man :)
