It's the Stones + Scorsese. Could it really be bad?

They have been playing live songs off it all day on xrt, man does it suck.

the stones... what a waste of time for scorsese. this is like when sepultura did a song with the guy from korn.

When I heard about this, I thought it was a documentary like No Direction Home, the Dylan film, which was quite good: rare footage and concert performances.

Instead it's a document of the last Stones tour, which is very boring. There isn't a great Stones documentary, so that's a bummer.

I would rather watch Sympathy for the Devil or Cocksucker Blues than this film. Maybe it's compelling in some way but modern Stones sucks. The last bearable concert era was covered in Hal Ashby's Let's Spend the Night Together, which was the Tattoo You tour back in '81.

I'm one of those strange people that loves Godard's Sympathy for the Devil. It definitely evokes the spirit of the era, even if it does seem pretty gauche and heavy handed with hindsight.

Fuck the Stones post-Exile.

Cocksucker Blues, but as I remember she is very willing. It's more like an orgy scene with some hangers ons, the Mick and Keith are seen playing percussion instruments as they look on.

Edit: I just remembered there is also a moment where some big guy grabs a girl and sort of tackles her, with her looking a little uncomfortable. I don't remember an actual rape though.

It does look like a major asshole scene and the movie is mostly shit: junkie bullshit.

Sympathy for the Devil is pretty interesting though.

No, I watched it a few weeks ago and she is not willing at all, she's freaked out and just kinda goes along with it because she's on a plane with the Rolling Stones and they are tearing her clothes off. What's she gonna do? jump? Tell on them? Stop hanging around the Rolling Stones and their money and planes and drugs? Not likely.

Never would have figured Scorsese for a Stones fan.

Seriously though, I bet it's not as good as that 2 1/2 hour-long video he did for "Monkey Man".
