I am, and apparently the two things people can tell about me upon meeting me are
1) I am a New Yorker (accent, natch)
2) I am an only child
I'm not sure what traits I exhibit that make this obvious, but I can take a guess.
Excuse me while I run to therapy.

they're weird. you can only talk to them on their terms.
still, sometimes i wouldn't have minded being one, but really there's nothing like siblings. i imagine there's nothing like no siblings either.

i'm trying to think of ANY only child that i know and can't come up with one. i'm not saying there aren't a lot around these parts but in my group of friends...none.
then again we were all born before condoms were legalised so more than likely some of us were accidental additions.
anyway i reckon i learned a lot from my sister about shit than i would have on my own.

I don't mind it. Like Fly said, I can't imagine having siblings. I guess a younger brother would have been nice but whatever.
NC
I always wanted a twin brother.

The frequency of really socially adept people among only children is low, in my experience. I'm not saying I haven't met only children who are really great people, but a high proportion of the biggest fuckwads and weirdos I've encountered have been sans siblings.
Not necessarily bad, but be careful how you raise them!

i think that i would have been a more 'balanced' person if i had some siblings when i was a youngster.

Voting on this seems weird. I come from a (kinda) large family, so I can only imagine the situation for a single child. My brothers were total assholes when I was a kid and it took for us all growing up before we got to that "friend" stage. My older brothers are undoubtedly cool and an invaluable source of information on stuff I'm only starting to got through now. I wonder, though, if being an only child would make you more independent? It'd also beat the fighting and constant torture you get when you're 12.
I'll go NC, but with some waffles for childhood loneliness (well, when you aren't with your friends...).

Not crap. But it's lonely.
