has anyone in this forum had any experience with the afore-mentioned? it seems that RTI doesn't press 10" records...they/steve mentioned this company to me, but i'm curious as to what people have to say about them.
any info/experiences would be much appreciated.
regards, jet.

The guys were very polite and informative at Bill Smith, when I had the bright idea about 10 years ago to put out a record. Answered all of my questions, gave me a good deal on pressing, and were swell folks all around.
There were lots of delays on my end, and the release sat in limbo for about two years - and through it all they were very patient, although I think they had to destroy the pressing plates at some point, but I can't remember that far back, honestly.
If I were to do a vinyl release again, I would go back to them, if they would let me.

I used Bill Smith for a couple of 7" efforts and was verily satisfied in each instance. They even did cum colored vinyl, which was stupid and entirely my fault.

I'm looking to start a little record label of my own and I have a fair amount of capital. Can anyone tell me where some of the bigger indy labels get their stuff done? A place that does thick-quality stuff? I
checked the sites for the places mentioned on this board but they're not very specific about grams. Distributors would be help as well.
-thanks

look at
www.recordtech.com
you'll find weight-specific references there. or at least, i did. but i called, as well. it's better, in my opinion, to get as much information about different pressers, compare it, and then make your decision. don't limit yourself based on who others use, but similarly, don't go with some smaller, lesser-proven company in an attempt to either be cheap, or "take a stab". i'd only go with a presser about whom i heard positive things about, from people who know what they're talking about. but that's me.

thanks jet,
I was checking out pressing sites and found this thread
http://www.audio%20asylum.com/audio/vinyl/messages/205534.htmlthese people really seem to have a problem with heavier stuff(they seem to hate it). I generally love most of my heavy vinyl, any comments?

yawn,
i don't know anything about the site you linked to, and didn't get to explore it, really...i have no idea who the guy posting this is.
i don't know about 200+ gram vinyl, but i've had no problems at all with any records i own which were pressed on 180g.
well, actually my copy of "terraform" is warped, but i *did* buy it used, so i blame equally myself and the idiot who had it before, who didn't take care of it (he prolly left it by a radiator or something). i didn't notice it until i got it home. my eventual solution will be to just buy it again.
RTI does 180g pressing. if you're still checking on that stuff, get in touch with them. i found them to be very helpful, although i haven't made a final decision yet.
regards,
jet.
