How horrible can one person be? This dude's music has NO redeeming qualities whatsoever, he may be the first "musician" that I absolutely despise!
CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP!

absolutely not crap by any means. his new album is outstanding, skyscraper national park is excellent, and same goes for everything i long for. if the only song you have heard is "hollywood ending" then yes, crap, that song is terrible. otherwise, NOT CRAP.

I may be wrong but is Hayden some current indie hipster wanker musician or are you talking about the classical composer? Although I don't consider Haydn to be a great classical composer I still think he made some beautiful although harmonically simple music. Definately not crap, although not great. If you are referring to some indie rocker named Hayden then I think this poll is crap for the "who cares" factor.

for more details.
Closer I get, had maybe 2 good songs on it, everything I long for was brilliant, skyscraper national park mostly great.
At one time he was one of my favorite artists, and definitely my favorite "bring the bummer" style artist.
Some songs on Everything I long for have not aged super well, but it is still an amazing album with some damn fine poignant songs.
I will vote a NOT CRAP, with some waffle factor for the boring AAA stuff on Closer I get.

My favourite Hayden related thing is that he stopped doing that throaty-shouting thing as soon as Adam Sandler rose to fame on SNL – Adam Sandler stole his schtick. Ha.
I did see him play a mesmerizing set maybe 7 (8?) years ago. But I was just talking to a friend who showed up at a Hayden gig in a bar venue and was repeatedly “shhhhh"-ed for having the gall to speak during Hayden’s weepy set. My friend replied that “this isn’t a Library, it’s a barâ€

Anyone else going to see him on Saturday at Schubas? I'm pretty sure tickets are still on sale, $15.
I know it's farfetched, but I'm hoping his set is made up of the first 3 albums.

I really liked Hayden's "Everything I Long For" - but I'm pretty sure I went through phase where I'd drive around a lot in my car feeling sad.
It's been a good decade since I listened to the album or drove around feeling sad.
Driveway - with it's lyrics about sticking stones up your nose to make yourself grow was good. It reminded me of convincing my brother to stick raisons up his nose in a scientific experiment. I might listen to it tonight.

"Everything I Long For" was amazing and I still love that album dearly. "Closer I Get" mostly blew, to the degree that I haven't heard anything done after that album.
There are definitely waffles here, but I'll move in favour of NOT CRAP because "EILF" ("Elves I'd Like to Fuck"?!?) is such a terrific album.

current - been around for ages
indie - useless and irrelevant term
hipster - no
wanker - also, no
musician - yes
a few great albums with a few dud songs here and there. seems normal to me. always great live. i've kind of stopped following his output for no good reason though?
Not Crap.
