Dear helpful citizens,
I'm going to be in Denver for 3 days & 2 nights, starting tomorrow (Tuesday). While my days will mostly be full of business crap, my nights are open. What the hell is there to do in Denver?
Some info about me: I enjoy good food, good and bad beer, record shopping, musical instrument stores with old guitars and Orange amplifiers, and live music, preferably loud live music. Oh, and boobies.
A friend told me to go to Lower Downtown (LoDo). Another friend told me to avoid LoDo like the plague. With friends like these...
I'm staying downtown, in this wacky place - http://www.thecurtis.com

2Will you have a rental car? This will help give suggestions.
Twist and shout Records is on Colfax not far from you. Good new and used selection, used vinyl, shares a complex with a book store and a movie theater where you can buy a meal and a beer to watch the film.
Independent records, also on Colfax. Seems good, but I've not actually been yet (just moved here in August). The whole strip of Colfax is a decent place to start, actually. That's considered the "hip" part of town, and does have the record stores, bars, naughty book stores, and assorted freeaks and weirdos.
The local rock venues most likely to have PRF-friendly rock are the Ogden, the Fillmore, the Bluebird, and the Gothic; but I have not seen anything for this week worth mentioning.
Like good barbecue? I really dig Yazoo. Totally unpretentious, and good. Also downtownish. Denver's best burger is on Colfax at the City Grille. Sports pub, nothing special, but has decent beer and a great burger.
I also agree that you should stay away from Downtown proper and the 16th Street Mall horseshit.

3Thanks for the reply.
No rental car. How's taxi service downtown?
I see that Dead Meadow, Mothership & Autokinoton are playing Tuesday night at the Larimer Lounge. It seems to be within walking distance of my hotel, although for all I know it could be an area of town where walking home at 1am is discouraged.
I was also told to go to Wax Trax Records, just south of Colfax.

4Dunno about taxis but the buses are mad easy to navigate. I just put about 20 miles on my boots walking around Denver last month. There are a bunch of little venues along South Broadway, as well as a couple of guitar shops, some good book stores and plenty of food. Bender's (13th st?) is a decent bar with the kool krowd too.
Weed is sold around Civic Center Park, which is right in front of Capitol Hill and the Denver Art Museum. That museum is boss titties BTW.

6There are, in fact, taxis in D-town. And cowboys.
I lived there for a few years.
My favorite venue there is the Bluebird on Colfax. And bonus, it is across from my favorite bar in Denver, the P.& S. Lounge, which is attached to my favorite pizza joint in the world, Enzo's End.
I am also a fan of the Lion's Lair for small shows, also on Colfax, just way smaller and seedier than Bluebird. Or it was last time I was there, which was 2001. And even seedier is a bar called the Golden Nugget...if that's still around...
Another can't miss cuisine on Colfax is called Pete's Kitchen. Order a smothered breakfast burrito, then hurry home cuz it's gonna go through you like lightning. It will, however, be sooooooooo worth it. In fact, maybe you can have two of them for me. Oh sweet Pete's, how I miss you.
You will love LODO if you love relief pitcher beards, hiking boots with shorts and hanging out in Lincoln Park!
