often i want to do really simple things and i just wish there was some book that would say 'if you want a distorted guitar, do this, and now to get the guitar to sound fuller, do this' and just give all this really generic advice that you could specify further yourself depending on how keen you were.
i know most people here are way beyond this but for dudes who aren't into building expensive studios and just want to record cheap and simple, something like that would be perfect.
sigh
i wish there was a definitive guide to recording a rock band

there're answers to probably almost every question you can think of, buried in here somewhere.

6There are good books on basic techniques. You can't apply exactly the same methods on each instrument for diffreent bands, and knowing what to do there comes with experience.

9There are some amazing devices that can be depended upon to help you get EXACTLY the sound you're looking for in a guitar amp or drum kit.
They're called ears, and you got one on either side of your head.
