This one is pretty obvious, huh? Still, I suspect some of you will have your reasons for disliking his work. And, if nothing else, these threads are usually good for providing interesting/funny anecdotes.
Solaris is untouchable.

Yup.

Uh-huh.
Solaris has very much sparked my interest in philosophical cross-examinations of science--and epistomologies in general. I'm gonna try to read The Structure of Scientific Revolutions before the end of June.
Totem, have you read the Stanisław Lem novel?
Director: Andrei Tarkovsky
3I'll vouch for Stalker and Ivan's Childhood too. The latter is probably my favorite.
Director: Andrei Tarkovsky
4And speaking of Lem, I've got Fiasco on the windowsill waiting to be read. Anyone know it?
Director: Andrei Tarkovsky
6Captain Kholin and Masha,
the nurse, in the birch wood.
'Sculpting in time' is excellent.
Director: Andrei Tarkovsky
7My girlfriend and I watched Andrei Rublev fairly recently. Found it pretty grinding and difficult to get through, but after that last 20 minutes I immediately wanted to watch the whole thing again, which I think makes him a pretty impressive director. Not to mention how stunning all his films look. The use of different film stocks in Solaris is great. Man, I wish I had that to watch on this slow Sunday at work...
Don't shun it. Fun it.
Director: Andrei Tarkovsky
8NOT CRAP.
Almost all of his films are great. The only one I don't like is Ivan's Childhood. Andrei Rubelev and Stalker are my personal favorites.
I recommend seeking out Chris Marker's documentary about Tarkovsky. Great insight into his work.

I Made Out With You Before You Were Cool
Don't Sit On The Pickets

9There is another Tarkovsky thread somehwere...
...has anyone seen Nostalghia? I saw a still in which he built a Russian steppe house inside the ruins of an Italian cathedral. It was certainly an arresting image.
There's a nice book of polaroids by Tarkovsky called Instant Light, if you're a fan.

10I can't imagine him being crap, and I don't even like him as much as most people do. 'Andrei Roublev' is amazing.
NOT CRAP
NOT CRAP
Well, that's just, like, your opinion, man.
