Although from what I remember, "lucky" isn't the way to describe the average St. Louis resident's situation.


Anyway, my mighty band has two big tour holes that could be filled nicely in Milwaukee or Saint Lou. Plus, I love the shit out of Milwaukee and I will relish any chance to visit. If you live in either of those cities and could help me out (even just names of people who book or decent venues for goatfucking trainwreck rock) please do let me know. 6/14 or 6/15 for Milwaukee and 6/19 or 6/20 for StL. Flexible.


Since my job has gotten in the way of my former profession (posting on EA all day) you may feel more than free to treat this as an irritating request from a stranger.

is the drummer for Holy Shit! and can do loads in order to get you in touch with someone planning a basement show or something at the Borg Ward on the days you need. Check their Top Friends for links to the Borg Ward's and The Vault's MySpaces. My friend Kyle runs the Borg Ward's 'Space and will help you if he can.

I'd pimp you guys out to individual bands, but all our friends will be up in Sturgeon Bay with us at the Steel Bridge fest that weekend.

I would recommend playing with (and I think I sent you there contact) Bear Proof Suit or Kind OF Jazz Music that Kills both woudl fit with you guys and draw well in the basement Scene, as the Dr said, we will be going north that day...

Two Cents Plain actually kind of sucks. The sound isn't too great over there. Try to get in at the Bluebird. It's generally pleasant there.

I'm from St. Louis and you're absolutely right - it's not something to brag about. I like playing at the The Way Out Club when I go home. The owners are interesting and kind and love live music. I know you already have all the pertinent suggestions, but I will second Apop Records, whose venue is technically Camp Concentration (it's the basement of the Apop record store). I will also first The Bluebird - the venue doesn't look like much (it's very new, and fresh paint doesn't bode well for a rock club), but the sound is quite good. I would also suggest the Lemp Arts Center or Off Broadway - they are both non-smoking venues, but Lemp is also all ages, which attracts more of the under-21 crowd than a lot of bands are comfortable with. Also, Off Broadway has a great sound system.

I suggest against the Way Out Club - I know it's a staple here, and it is brimming with character, but most of the shows there sound like shit, and if you haven't been to St. Louis before and your show sounds like shit, people will pay less attention. St. Louisans have non-existent attention spans for new things.
