It could be haunted by a space ghost.

Have not used an Echoplex.

However, I have been able to utilize the Space Echo with positive results several times in the past. Hilariously, even if the tape is worn to shit ...

Can't comment on it in comparison to the Echoplex. I'm saying Not Crap just because ...

I just inherited a Hohner version of the echo plex. I have a buddy of mine fixing it up electrically and we'll obviously replace the tape. I hope it's the best $10(cost of tape) I have ever spent.

The musical equivalent of a Polaroid camera. You're never really sure what it's going to do, most of what it does is terrible, but occasionally it'll do something incredible.

I have an RE-501, which I love, but not quite enough to stop me from wanting to swap it for a Binson.

Due to Space Echo's fantastically wild and eccentric character, trying to decide if it's Crap/Not Crap is all part of the experience, and this in itself is NC!

NC if they work. People don't take care of them and the service manual is hard to find, so they get neglected. Complete crap if they aren't working well, or the operator has no idea what to do if the machine starts acting up.

I know a guy who professes undying love for the Space Echo, but he has no idea how to change the loop in one. That's crap. If you really love a piece of gear, learn how to take care of it...

I like the polaroid camaera analogy. And like a Polaroid, if the space echo part comes out yucky, you can easily do another and it won't be exactly (or maybe even remotely) like the first.

Not crap in the slightest. The Univox echo is total fucking crap though.

Has anyone used the little Boss pedal that claims to sound like a space echo?

I would rather take a pedal on the road than a big clunky box.
