George's half shrimp, half oyster po boy DRESSED, with hot sauce.

Just do it.

Also, The Chimes is a friendly place with good food and a bunch of beers.

There's a crazy guitar shop there.... it's got a ton of crazy stuff, or.... it used to. Can't remember the name, but I'll post it here tomorrow.

Must wholeheartedly endorsed dontfeartheringo's recommendations. The Chimes and George's are a must.

Louie's is a great diner.

Mike Anderson's for some great seafood.

See if The Spanish Moon has any bands.

Coffee Call for beignets and chicory coffee.

Too bad Tabby's is closed. Awesome place for blues.

For a truly unique experience get a Daiquiri at a Drive Through. Always nice getting served alcohol while driving.

I would check out LSU's campus (huge live oaks), visit Mike the Tiger, go to the State Capitol and see where Huey Long was shot.

Can you drive to New Orleans? Downtown is only about 1 hour from Baton Rouge. Lots of really great food there and you could go see the devastation from Hurricane Katrina in the Ninth ward and city center. If you can make it down there you should go!

Let me know if you need any more info.

I wasn't playing guitar yet. I can email some people and see what I can find out.

Do you remember where it was in town?

hey, thanks for all the good links!
i'm teaching from 12-4 at LSU M-Thurs, and that's it, so there will be time for exploring both BR and New Orleans.
Keep the great suggestions coming...
