Does anyone have experience with the EQ3-D? It's a slimmer version of the EQ3 that EA has, and it goes for a lot less. It can be purchased for about the same amount as a Mini-Massive. I am looking for a stereo mix/mastering EQ, and I'm wondering if either the EQ3-D or Mini-Massive are suitable (since their big brothers are super expensive)? Any thoughts on either?

I believe I've got an EQ3-D (mine is the blue single rack space version). It's a very useful tool for global tone fixups on the 2-bus. I've never heard the EQ3 but I like mine just fine.

IIRC correctly, the big EQ3 has balanced I/O, the small one is unbalanced in one or both directions, and may also be without the Q adjustment. I did quite fancy picking one of those kits up...

What I like about ours is that the gain is adjusted with switches (for precision matching). That is especially good when using it for mixes.
I wanted to build a copy as well. The prodigy pro guys copied the pot adjusted one however. I will probably compare schematics next time I have to fix ours (or sooner, they never break). I hope the difference is only with the switches.

It's pretty easy to substitute a pot with a rotary switch. I'm building a custom 3-band fixed frequency stereo mastering EQ for a client right now and I'm using 2-pole 12-position rotary switches to get the desired +/- 5dB of gain for each band. I was originally going to base it on the Night EQ. In fact, there's a spreadsheet (specifically for the night EQ) that somebody posted over at prodigy-pro that I used to reverse engineer the required resitor values to get the desired amount of boost/cut that I wanted at each step. I ended up going with a different design though.
