i'll leave open a slight waffle factor cuz, a) chris leo was a friend and role model during my high school years who facilitated my first shows and all sorts of etc., and b) i don't think their records - production-wise - speak to what a dominant live act they were.
has anybody heard chris' new thing, vague angels? or does anybody know what neal the drummer is doing, these days?

I must say I am dissapointed this poll hasn't illicited much response, even in terms of votes.

I've never been a fan of The Van Pelt, but whenever people talk about them I can only think of an incident that happened to them in Florida a long time ago. They were playing in a shoddy place where an unstable loft overhung the stage. The loft eventually collapsed on the band while they were playing and Toko had to be taken to the hospital.
On a side note, I've always been interested in the nitty-gritty reasons why Toko left/was kicked out of Blonde Redhead. I know I'm only a decade late in asking this, but does anyone have the old scoop on this?

toko returned to the van pelt after a tour with blonde redhead that sounds hideous. there was talk of nude hottubbing and mandatory heart-to-hearts between each band member. this is how i heard it, anywho, and these tales have made me feel strange for liking that band so much (particularly that first one - goddammit!)....

Van Pelt - listening to the mright now - categorically NOT CRAP. Both albums are great. They kick ass. End of story.
