I have often driven about 1000km, taking about 12 hrs, in one day between 2 shows.

I've done Madison to Wilmington, NC straight through. That sucked.

During a tour I'd say about 12 hours between shows without a day off is as far as I'd want to go. *After* a tour we once drove straight from Seattle to Chicago only stopping for gas.

i have no idea how far it was, but i once did 18 hours. We left straight after the gig and arrived just in time to sound check. I was younger then.

On our last tour out west we had to leave a show in Salt Lake City immediately after it was done and start the all-night drive to Los Angeles because we had to be on the radio at 4 PM. According to Google Maps it's 10 hours, but i'm pretty sure it was closer to 12.
We've also done 10 hours from Missoula to Portland, um, a few other ridiculous ones...at the end of a tour once we left immediately after a bunk-ass show in Albuquerque and drove straight home to Oshkosh, WI only stopping for gas.
Oog.

The worst we did was Hamburg, Germany to London. It was 11 hours driving but we had to get through immigration and factor in the Eurotunnel between shows. Also, we had to be at the club in London by 4pm and our Eurotunnel reservation was for 12:50pm, hence we never went to bed after the Hamburg show and drove straight through to London.
....we almost got turned around at the UK border. Steve was right, those guys at the border are pricks and wanted to see work permits. Thank goodness for the EA forum and EA members helping us out with a letter and such...
In the US the worst we've done is Philly to Chapel Hill, NC. Bad but nothing compared to the EU travel.

just to add a bit, we try to keep the distances to under 4 hours, and try to keep the long drives (8 hours plus) to one or maybe two a tour...
