Ok, as a companion piece to the 'sure signs a band will suck' thread how about sure signs a band will be awesome?

Watching a previously unheard band set up, what are some signs of some upcoming awesome?

I'll start.

If the girl in the band is drinking Whiskey. They are gonna be good.

you can tell.

it's not a sign, it's just something you sense.

If the band looks like they haven't slept in a few days, chances are.

aw hell Marsupialized, I thought for sure you were gonna say "if their chick drummer has a huge rack"

I usually take one look at their music gear, then their haircuts, then I factor what kind of audience they have (hipsters, metal heads etc.). I'm usually 99% right in my judgements.

You know it's a good sign when their guitar player is one of those masters of poetic melancholy, able to construct majestic cathedrals of sound guitar dream to express love in its purest form.

someone in the band has a very strange guitar amp or a very weird pedal set up...

esp if there is a wide range in expensive amps vs cheap amps...

Someone's bleeding before the first note.

Bands I have been in that met this criteria:
Music Hates You

They don't put much if any emphasis on what their wearing or their hair. And yes, classy gear.
