So, I'm in Tabor. a lovely Czech City. South of Prague. My partner ha a residency here, and I'm looking for clues about anything to do or see in Czech.
So far, I've sampled some excellent beer, and been to a bar called Orion to catch some excellent Spanish Bands, DECAPANTE
(seriously incredible - big engine of a band with a fab drummer) and ROSVITA (fun on a stick)
Any calls about anything you may wish would be just grand.

5Memorably referred to by David Pleat during the European Championships this month as 'the Republic of Czechoslovakia'. I know that doesn't help.

Tabor, relatively unusual destination in the Czech Republic. It just never seems to come up among the usual cities people visit there when they want to get out of Prague, such as Karlovy Vary or Kutna Hora.
Tabor was the site of an interesting religious group, the Taborites, a radical wing of the Hussite movement. They apparently did not believe in personal property and piled their possessions into a big heap of communal property. As such, they could be considered 15th century forrunners to the Communists. Supposedly, they were also into dancing around naked.
Which may be one reason why the other Hussite factions turned on them and eventually slaughtered most of them in 1434.
Pity, really.
