8awful, awful creatures.
the worst is when you swat one and it leaves a smear of your (and maybe someone else's) blood.

10Is it just me, or have Wisconsin/UP mosquitos become more silent within the last 15-20 years? I was visiting my family in May and it seemed extremely noticeable this year, and I've heard farmers and various other outdoorsmen raise the observation for at least five years. They are swift and unobtrusive, this new hybrid mosquito. I flew back to California with about 30 bites and I'm usually a champion squatter. Most of the time I didn't even feel the little fuckers biting me until well after the wound had started to swell and itch.
