Heard from inside.

Depends on the context, sitting in the car alone while waiting for the breakdown man to come and get you CRAP, sitting with sig' other watching the waves crash around the north west coast of scotland having just gotten too cold outside.. NOT CRAP. Although I suppose even in the former case, the sonic quality can be quite soothing.. Hmm... not crap.

Also, corrugated shed roofs.

Not crap and evocative of many childhood memories. I find the sound soothing. However, I think that heavy rain as heard from the inside of a tent has even more magic.

I cannot agree, but it is possible that years of camping in Wales has somewhat tainted this sound for me. Particularly the year of the hurricane.

The sound of rain in general has a hypnotic effect on me, but only when I'm not subject to its wetness.

Adam, when you are stalking your prey, you really don't want to let the rain distract you. Remember, if you're found breaking the terms of your restrainment order, you'll be back in chokey quicker than you can say Jill Dando.

Much night time rain in the Lake District last week. Great sound especially when ensconced in a warm sleeping bag in a water tight tent, alongside a gently sleeping family.
